WFI Summer School 2025: "Responsible Innovation in Firms and Society: Digitalization, Sustainability, and More"

The WFI Summer School "Responsible Innovation in Firms and Society: Digitalization, Sustainability, and More" is designed to educate, inspire, and generate dialogue on an urgent need in business and society – Responsible Innovation. This exciting Summer School for Master’s students and advanced Bachelor’s students includes a rich range of topics and course modules – from Responsible Innovation to Corporate Social Responsibility, from Transformative Service Innovations to Sustainable Entrepreneurship, from Retail Innovation to the Role of Patents, and Harnessing the Power of AI.

Earn up to 10 ECTS

Students can gain up to 10 ECTS credits from 4 Classes. One of these classes is a required capstone module on Responsible Innovation with a business immersion in Munich. Students can choose up to 3 other classes from a list of 6 available classes. Our Summer School format includes networking events with thought leaders, cultural excursions, and time for pause and reflection.

The modules are integrated as compulsory electives in the Master programs at WFI and open to exchange and guest students as well as advanced Bachelor students.

The module is offered as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP).

Modules

1 - Responsible Innovation in Firms and Society (with Business Immersion in Munich) - Prof. Dr. Shashi Matta (WFI) - mandatory

2 - Corporate Social Responsibility: Employers and Employees - Prof. Agnieszka Jakubczyk-Latała and Prof. Agata Stachura (ANSiM, Lublin, Poland) 

3 - Sustainable Entrepreneurship - Prof. Dr. Monika Bachinger (KU)

4 - AI Revolution: Harnessing the Power & Navigating the Perils - Prof. Andrei Luchici (Romanian-American University, Bucharest, Romania)

5 - Transformative Service Innovations - Prof. Dr. Shashi Matta and Maximilian Bauer (WFI)

6 - Retail Innovation - Prof. Gabriele Pizzi (University of Bologna, Bologna Business School, Italy)

7 - Patents, Innovations and Technological Change - Prof. Dr. Reinhard Weber (WFI).

Each module is 2.5 ECTS credits.

WFI students please note the following: 
  • For the M.Sc. Business Administration with the majors BA&OR, DICE, ENTRE, International BA and MARKT all Classes count as "Wahlpflichtfach" (compulsory elective).
  • For the M.Sc. Business Administration with the major FACT, only the Classes "Corporate Social Responsibility: Employers and Employees" and "AI Revolution: Harnessing the Power & Navigating the Perils" count as "Wahlpflichtfach" (compulsory elective), the remaining Classes count as "Wahlfach".
  • For all Bachelor degree programs, as well as the M.Sc. Business & Psychology and the M.Sc. Taxation, all Classes count as "Wahlfach".

Overall Schedule

The in-person classes as well as the business and cultural excursions of the WFI Summer School will be held during the Gap Week in classes during the Summer Semester. Therefore, regular Summer Semester classes will not be held during that week (June 30 – July 4, 2025).

Application and Registration for WFI Summer School

KU and WFI students can apply using this link until 23:55 at night on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

International students from partner universities must register via this link by March 31, 2025.

Costs

  • 78 € participation fee for all students, including KU and WFI students.
  • International students need to provide their own room and board (location: Ingolstadt campus). A limited number of subsisized on-campus housing is available for early bookers.
  • Social Program: For cultural excursions on the weekends please budget approx. 50 € including transportations.
  • Costs incurred for the program related excursions to Eichstätt on July 2, to Munich on July 4, and the evening program on June 30 and July 3 will be borne by WFI Summer School.
  • Students selected by their home institution as Erasmus+ BIP participants are eligible for Erasmus+ funding.
