The chatbot for students and prospective students at KU is called “KUala Bot” because KUala is the KU mascot, as shown here https://www.ku.de/ku-maskottchen.
The KUala bot supports KU students and prospective students by providing orientation information and pointing them to relevant sections of the KU website that are recommended for consultation.
It is designed to help answer basic questions and make it easier to find relevant information on the KU website.
The KUala bot has been carefully tested for these tasks, but it may sometimes give answers that are not entirely accurate, which may be noticeable, for example, in incomplete or imprecise or occasionally otherwise incorrect information or links that are not entirely accurate.
The KUala bot works in several stages: The query entered in the chat window is evaluated on a KU server and then transmitted together with basic processing instructions, the so-called system prompt, and information from the KU homepage under the domain ku.de to a language model, where the response is generated and then displayed in the chat window.
The KUala Bot does not provide legal advice.
For binding information, please always refer to the relevant and valid legal provisions.
The KUala Bot is designed to provide accurate information, but no guarantee is given for the accuracy of the answers provided.
While we strive to keep the chatbot continuously available online, availability may be temporarily limited due to maintenance, updates or technical difficulties. We do not guarantee the constant availability of the service and thank you for your understanding and patience.
The KUala Bot is based on the RAG system AnythingLLM, which is hosted on-premise on a KU-owned server.
The KUala Bot uses OpenAI's LLM o3-mini to generate responses; a valid DPA (Data Processing Agreement) is in place for this purpose.
No personal access data is collected or stored.
Please avoid entering personal data or sensitive information in the chat yourself.
The queries entered are stored in a log file together with the responses provided. No personal IP addresses are stored. The questions and answers collected are evaluated for the purpose of evaluating and continuously improving the KUala Bot.
The contents of the KUala Bot are protected by copyright.
