1. Antiquitas christiana – a Latin book on Christian late antiquity:

In order to promote and didactically accompany the indispensable study of original language source texts in university courses, a representative panorama of late antique Christian Latin texts on various thematic areas (Bible, liturgy, asceticism and monasticism, church and state, inscriptions, etc.) is to be compiled and provided with a primarily linguistically oriented commentary. In this way, vocabulary and grammar are repeated and translation techniques are continuously practiced while reading source texts.

2. Bilingual edition of early church council canons (in preparation; together with G. Schöllgen):

In order to make the most important canons of the early church synods accessible to a wider audience and to facilitate their use in academic teaching, a bilingual edition is being produced which, in addition to the text and translation, will also contain introductory remarks on the individual synods and a factual commentary.

3. Study the history of the early church (in planning):

As a further development or update of my reader "Leitfaden Studium Alte Kirchengeschichte" (see monographs no. 6 above), an introduction to the history, positioning and methodology of the subject of "Ancient Church History" is to be given and, initially for antiquity and the early Middle Ages, the "Arbeitsbuch Kirchengeschichte" (Tübingen 1995) written by Ch. Markschies is to be expanded and updated. Study books such as H. Blum / R. Wolters, Alte Geschichte studieren (Konstanz 2006) or H.-W, Goetz, Proseminar Geschichte: Mittelalter (Stuttgart 32006) serve as a model. With the exception of the older workbook by Markschies, a comparable textbook does not yet exist for church history and would be helpful for both lecturers and students of early church history.
