Libri ordinarii as sources for high and late medieval worship, especially in the women's abbeys of the Deutsches Reich

Libri ordinarii are descriptive sources for the high and late medieval church service and, as "director's books", provide an insight into the actual celebration of the liturgy in a cathedral, collegiate, monastery or parish church. The project examines these sources, especially for the women's convents of the Deutsches Reich, and works together with the working group "Essen und die Frauenstifte".

Here you can find the index of the Libri ordinarii and related sources. Edited by Jürgen Bärsch, Tillmann Lohse and Andreas Odenthal, with the assistance of Sebastian Walter (not edited; status: November 2020).

Worship and confessional piety in the Baroque era

Based on the two-volume work by historian Peter Hersche (Muße und Verschwendung. Europäische Gesellschaft und Kultur im Barockzeitalter, Freiburg-Basel-Wien 2006), a monographic account of religious life in Catholic culture during the Baroque period will be examined in more detail and analyzed on the basis of exemplary sources. The focus is on the German-speaking area and primarily covers the period between 1600 and 1770.
