New Project Course in the Winter Semester together with Munich Airport

Practice Project: Service & Innovation Management with Munich Airport Terminal 2

Why do US-bound passengers spend less on food and beverage than the average traveler at Munich Airport, and what can be done about it?

In this practice project with Munich Airport T2, you will examine this question yourself. Through on-site interviews with passengers at Terminal 2, developing customer personas and mapping their consumption journey from check-in to gate.
Working in teams, you will apply persona development, customer journey mapping, and qualitative research methods to identify where the airport is losing potential customers, and turn your findings into concrete recommendations, which you will present directly to Munich Airport's project partners.

Highlights:

  • Real fieldwork: airport tour and interview days (1-2 per group) on-site at Munich Airport (Travel expenses will be covered)
  • Direct collaboration with an industry partner and participation certificate
  • Apply customer experience & qualitative research methods in a live business case
  • Present final results to company stakeholders
  • Individual grading within group work

This course is open to all master students, but places are limited.
Please submit your application by October 1st, along with your resume and a recent transcript or grade report, to Jannes.marquardt@ku.de.

This project is only offered in the winter semester 2026/2027.
