The Chair of Economics, in particular Microeconomics at WFI offers courses such as Microeconomics, Sustainable Development, Economics of Sustainable Consumption or Methods of Quasi-experimental Policy Evaluation.
The research focuses on individual behavioral adaptations to institutional changes and economic incentives, both in industrialized and in emerging and developing countries. Causal effects of policy measures or environmental disasters are analyzed using quasi-experimental or experimental methods. The research is complemented by international cooperation and the development and evaluation of household surveys.
The Chair is a founding member of the KU research institute BESH (Business and Economics in Service of Humanity), which deals with socially relevant topics such as health, education, migration and digitalization.
