Erasmusstudentin an der Professur für Kunstpädagogik und Kunstdidaktik

My name is Genesis Albiño, and I am an Erasmus Student from Spain. Actually, I was born in Ecuador but, three years ago I moved to Spain. I love it here and my family is very supportive. I study Tourism in the wonderful city of Almería. Almería is a city in Andalusia, located in the southeast of Spain on the Mediterranean Sea. At the beginning of this year, I decided to go to Germany because the opportunity to develop my language skills and study in such a prestigious country was really attractive. I had listened to many “Erasmus experiences” about this country and all of them were interesting and unforgettable.

In my Keramik-Seminar, I have learned a lot but mainly how to develop my intellectual abilities and personal skills freely and to reach my full potential. Senior lecturer Petia Knebel was always very kind and motivated when teaching and she was very professional. We did many amazing works, such as “Bananen-Tattoo, die Kunst, die unter die Haut geht”, abstract sculptures with the title “Beton-Ton im Dialog” and “Produktdesign” and many more. I have never taken any ceramic courses before, but when I was there, I had a lot of fun, and I was inspired by the creativity of my teacher and my classmates. I also took a Malerei-Seminar, and I must admit it was also very challenging. Every class of senior lecturer Christine Schweiger was very well prepared and she explained to me every detail about the things that I needed to do. We drew many things from different perspectives, such as buildings, bottles, fruit, houses, and others. Both lecturers always explained to me and to the other students how to improve our work and helped us to make them look much better. I will always appreciate the two lecturers that I mentioned since they worked hard to communicate and understand me.

Doing an Erasmus stay in this cozy place called Eichstätt (ca. 14.000 inhabitants) was one of my best experiences. It is a very green and lovely little town, the people are friendly, and you can walk everywhere! The student atmosphere is much fun, and you learn a lot every day. Eichstätt provides the ideal environment to forge lasting friendships. As for living costs, it is not so expensive. There are supermarkets of all kinds and local shops where you can find vegetables and fruits. As far as accommodation is concerned, I recommend living in a shared flat, as it offers more autonomy and at the same time the opportunity to get to know you cohabitants. I recommend walking through the streets and admiring the architecture and of course the nature. The main recommendation for future students is to get to know every corner of this town and to develop the language.
