Project Steps of the SmartStart Teacher Academy:

The SmartStart Teacher Academy is structured into eight key project steps (work packages) to ensure a comprehensive and effective implementation of AI-based teacher training.

Final Impact is the creation of a cutting-edge, AI-powered teacher training program that fosters multilingual, digital, and future-ready classrooms across Europe.

 

1. Project Management & Coordination

Goal: Ensure smooth execution, collaboration, and quality control across all project activities.
Key Actions:

  • Establish a Project Management Team (PMT) to oversee progress and ensure alignment.
  • Organize regular meetings and communication between partner institutions.
  • Implement a risk management strategy and a quality assurance framework.
  • Ensure financial and administrative oversight of project activities.

Outcome: Efficient management and coordination of the entire SmartStart initiative.

 

2. Establishing the Theoretical Foundation

Goal: Define the framework for AI integration in primary education.
Key Actions:

  • Create an Expert Panel with specialists from education, AI, and psychology.
  • Conduct a comprehensive literature review on AI and digital media in primary schools.
  • Develop a Key Strategy Paper outlining pedagogical, ethical, and technological guidelines.

Outcome: A strong conceptual foundation for AI-enhanced teacher training.

 

3. AI-Based Tools & Digital Learning Portfolio

Goal: Develop tools to enhance multilingual education and digital learning.
Key Actions:

  • AI-Based Translation Tool to overcome language barriers in teacher training and classrooms.
  • Create a portfolio of AI-powered educational applications for primary schools.
  • Develop lesson plans, instructional videos, and practical teaching resources.

Outcome: Ready-to-use AI-powered resources for teachers across Europe.

 

4. Developing the SmartStart Teacher Training Program

Goal: Create a structured training program integrating AI and digital pedagogy.
Key Actions:

  • Design the teacher training curriculum based on the TPACK framework.
  • Develop a modular online course covering AI, digital media, and ethical considerations.
  • Set up a Learning Management System (LMS) for interactive online learning.

Outcome: A flexible and accessible AI-focused teacher training curriculum.

 

5. Organizing the Two-Stage Teacher Training Program

Goal: Implement the training in real-world educational settings.
Key Actions:

  • Integrate the online course into teacher education programs at partner universities.
  • Organize the practical phase in project partner schools using Erasmus+ mobility programs.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer learning between student teachers and experienced educators.
