Florian Richter ist Postdoc an der Katholischen Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. Zuvor hatte er eine einjährige Vertretungsprofessur zu den gesellschaftlichen Implikationen und ethischen Aspekten der künstlichen Intelligenz an der Technischen Universität Ingolstadt inne, wo er zudem zweieinhalb Jahre als Postdoc tätig war. Zuvor war er Dozent am Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexiko) und gab Seminare in Philosophie, Ethik, Posthumanismus und Technikethik. 

Er studierte Philosophie, Geschichte und Politik an der Universität Stuttgart (M.A.) und wurde an der TU Darmstadt in Philosophie promoviert. Er war außerdem Visiting Scholar an der Universität Pittsburgh.

Florian Richters Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Philosophie und Ethik der Technik, insbesondere die Ethik der künstlichen Intelligenz. Darüber hinaus beschäftigt er sich auch mit politischer Philosophie und Neuroethik.
