Support measures for female researchers

Extra student assistant hours after maternity/parental leave

Female professors and research assistants who return to work from maternity leave (Mutterschutz) or parental leave (Elternzeit) after the birth of a child can request support from student assistants.

You can ask for up to 100 student assistant hours - depending on your working hours and the availability of the student assistants. This form of support can either be claimed in the first semester after returning from maternity or parental leave - or stretched over two semesters.

Additional childcare facilities

A budget for setting up childcare services is available for important public university events and conferences that take place at the KU. If you would like to offer childcare during an event, Veronika Hecht (veronika.hecht@ku.de, 08421/93-21614) will gladly help you with the organization. Please also take note of this information.

In addition, a vacation program for the children (ages 6 to 12) of students and employees will be offered during the vacations that fall within the lecture period. For more information, please see here.

Additional costs for childcare and accommodation for conference trips of female researchers can also be covered upon request if the children are taken along on the trip. You can find the relevant information sheet and the application form in the business trip applications or on the homepage of the Family Friendly KU. Only mid-level employees who are pursuing a qualification project at the KU (doctorate, habilitation, postdoc) are eligible to apply.
