The Chair of Political Education/Social Studies Didactics is responsible for the subject-specific didactic training of teaching degree students in the subject of politics and society. In addition, we are represented in study modules of various subject-specific degree programs at the KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. The chair is therefore dedicated to the broad field of political education.

The research focus is on the challenges to democracy posed by anti-democratic attitudes. The department conducts research and projects on this topic, for example on right-wing extremism and right-wing populism. Questions of learning democracy are also at the center of our work. This is done at various levels through empirical research, conceptual descriptions, and practice-oriented projects with schools and extracurricular providers of political education.
