We strongly recommend that students from Germany do their internship abroad. Participants of the specialization "European Studies" are recommended to complete the internship at an organization with European relevance (e.g. at European organizations such as the European Union or the Council of Europe, affiliated institutions or other institutions from business and society with a European orientation.
Step 1: For an internship position, you will have to contact suitable private or public institutions proactively.
Step 2: The head of the study program must recognize the internship as a compulsory internship before it begins. Please use the form "Internship certificate" for this step.
After completing the internship, you will submit an internship report. You will find all the information you need on this page.
Support?
The International Career / Internship Advisory Service of the KU will be happy to assist you in finding, financing and planning your internship in Germany or abroad.
The report should be about fifteen pages (incl. cover sheet, table of contents and bibliography). If the compulsory internship was divided into several internships, you can summarize the internships in one report.
The internship report should be written in the same formal manner as a term paper (Hausarbeit). It should be clearly structured with a table of contents listing the chapters and subchapters with page numbers.
In the body of the report, you should summarize the internship and the experience gained. Instead of a detailed documentation of all activities performed, focus on relevant aspects and the relation to your studies (see outline).
On the cover sheet, provide the following information:
For example, information on history, structure, number of employees, tasks, etc.
We recommend that you write the report as soon as possible after the end of the internship. The submission date of the report determines in which semester the internship will be recorded. To avoid delays in graduation or even additional semesters, make sure you submit it on time.
You will submit the internship report - printed and PDF file - to Prof Dr Klaus Brummer. After reviewing the report, you are invited to request feedback. Simply contact the reviewer for this purpose.
