The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt kindly invites you to the 39th International Summer School. The program is intended for students in the areas of German studies and social sciences, but also for professionals and anyone who wants to learn the German language and culture. We offer courses for beginners with no previous German knowledge and students with a basic to intermediate knowledge of German (up to C1) .
Arrival and program start: Sunday, July 16, 2023
Class start: Monday, July 17, 2023
Class end: Friday, August 04, 2023 (noon)
Departure: Saturday, August 05, 2023
up to 5 ECTS credits/ 6 US credits
Successful and regular participation is confirmed at the end of the course by a certificate and an official Transcript of Records. Please arrange academic recognition with your home university BEFORE starting the course.
German & English (beginners' class)
max. 18 per class
You must fulfill the following (minimum) language requirements in order to be able to participate in the programs listed below:
Course 1: English B1 (for communication) - this course is only for absolute beginners without any knowledge of German
Course 2: German A2-C1
Course 3: German B2-C1
€ 559.00 including € 150.00 registration fee

Additional cost (not included in the course fees):
- Travel cost
- Accommodation (organized by the International Office, see below)
- Meals (depending on your preferences, lunch in the students cafeteria costs between 6 and 10 EUR)
- Health and accident insurances
- Books/ materials (40.00 EUR per participant in the A1 course, 20.00 EUR per participant in all other courses)
BAYHOST summer school grants - Students and young academics from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia and Ukraine with intermediate German knowledge (at least B1-level) are eligible to apply for the summer school grants for German language in Bavaria.

After registration, you will receive an email with an access link to your data. As soon as you have completed this, you can download the Welcome Package with practical information about the KU Summer School. The following documents are required for the application:

The International Office will arrange accommodation for all participants for the period from Sunday, July 16, 2023 (check-in) to Saturday, August 05, 2023 (check-out).
The International Office has a limited contingent of overnight accommodations at the Gasthof Trompete as well as the Episcopal Seminary. The registration for accommodation - if desired - is done during the online application. Please click HERE for the available housing packages 2023.
Catering: on weekdays possible in the KU canteen or cafeteria. For the weekends the Eichstätt bars and restaurants offer a variety of possibilities.
