KU Summer School - Campus Eichstätt

July 19 – August 13, 2021

The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt kindly invites you to the 37th International Summer School. The program is intended for students in the areas of German studies and social sciences, but also for professionals and anyone who wants to learn the German language and culture. We offer courses for students with a basic knowledge of German (A2) and other courses for participants with good to advanced knowledge of German.

The program of the KU Summer School 2021 consists of intensive German lessons in the morning and a specialized program in the afternoon (the language of instruction is German). You can choose between Option 1 and 2 with the focus on Regional Studies (minimum requirement German A1) and Option 3 with the focus on Modern German Literature (minimum requirement German B1).

Class end: Thursday, August 12, 2021 (presentation of certificates)

Check-Out: Friday, August 13, 2021

Classroom hours

  • 57 hrs intensive German
  • 26 hrs academic program
  • 3 hrs cultural excursion field trip to Ingolstadt

up to 6 ECTS credits

Successful and regular participation is confirmed at the end of the course by a certificate and an official Transcript of Records. Please arrange academic recognition with your home university BEFORE starting the course.

Arrival to the KU

Your lecturers

The courses are taught exclusively by professional German teachers of the KU (trained in German as a foreign or second language). Additionally, you will be supervised by two student tutors during the program (social activities, first-hand tips).

Language requirements

You must fulfill the following (minimum) language requirements in order to be able to participate in the programs listed below:

  • Conversation and Regional Studies I: German A1

  • Conversation and Regional Studies II: German B1

  • Literature: German B2

Course fees/ scholarships

€ 509.00 if registration and payment is made before February 28, 2021, including € 150.00 registration fee

€ 559.00 for later registration and payment, including € 150.00 registration fee

The course fees include tuition, participation in the field trips, the social program, access to the library, internet access.

Not included: Accommodation, meals, travel, and insurance costs.


Scholarship opportunities

DAAD scholarships for university summer courses -  DAAD scholarship holders receive an additional discount on the course fee
BAYHOST summer school grants - Students and young academics from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia and Ukraine with intermediate German knowledge (at least B1-level) are eligible to apply for the summer school grants for German language in Bavaria. The scholarships include the course fee, accommodation and a food allowance.

Please fill out the registration form (PDF link) completely and send your registration by e-mail to summerschool@ku.de. After successful registration, you will receive a confirmation with an invoice. After payment of the course fees (and possible accommodation fees) your registration is considered binding. For visa purposes, you will receive an official admission.

DAAD and BAYHOST scholarship holders are registered directly by the scholarship provider.

Accommodation facilities

The International Office offers a limited number of accommodation options in single or double rooms with breakfast. Early registration is recommended.

Price in a single room with breakfast: € 699.,75 (July 19 – August 13, 2021)

Price in a double room with breakfast: € 499.,75 (July 19 – August 13, 2021)

The prices are special prices for accommodation in the Kolpinghotel Eichstätt and include daily breakfast and WiFi, excluding room service. Please bring your towels.

Catering: on weekdays possible in the KU canteen or cafeteria. For the weekends the Eichstätt bars and restaurants offer a variety of possibilities.
