KU FIT

KU FIT is a university-based training certificate program that has been offered since January 2019. It aims to foster the motivation and willingness of staff members to learn new things and engage with foreign cultures. Promoting internationalization and establishing the certificate are integral components of the KU's personnel development concept.

What exactly is ‘KU FIT’?

With its KU FIT program, the KU has introduced its own professional training certificate for the first time in January 2019. With this certificate, the University Management wants to appreciate your motivation and willingness to learn new things and to approach foreign cultures. The promotion of internationalization and the associated establishment of the ‘KU FIT’ certificate is also anchored in the KU's HR development concept.

The program is supported by the State Ministry of Science and the Arts, which provides the financial means for implementation of the various courses and events. The program is designed to meet your needs and is therefore subject to constant change. We would like to expressly encourage you to tell us about your specific wishes for further training events in the field of internationalization.

‘KU FIT’ is coordinated by the International Office at the KU.

The certificate consists of two or three components:

Who can I contact?

KU FIT is coordinated by the International Office of KU. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding further training opportunities in the international field, please feel free to contact the International Office.

KU places great emphasis on fostering an international campus culture and actively supports the mobility of its students and staff. Through the KU FIT training certificate, the university actively promotes the intercultural competence and language skills of its personnel.

Where can I find relevant courses?

An overview of the available language courses can be found on the intranet under the "Training Opportunities for KU Staff." Additionally, you can also make use of the courses offered for students of all faculties and the language courses provided by the Virtual University of Bavaria (VHB).

Intercultural sensitization workshops are also offered regularly. For furhter information, please have a look at the event calendar of the Personnel Development department.

Tip: The DAAD provides university staff with free self-study materials for English. The exercises are structured according to different work areas (e.g., student or faculty administration offices, HR departments, examination offices, advisory services, etc.) and proficiency levels. Each unit is complemented by useful phrases, language tips, and glossaries.

You can either work with a PDF download or – our recommendation – practice interactively on the iDA Moodle platform, which includes audiovisual elements (Reading & Listening) and feedback.

Here is an overview of the self-study materials:
