KU Summer School - Campus Eichstätt

The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt kindly invites you to the 40th International Summer School. The program is intended for students in the areas of German studies and social sciences, but also for professionals and anyone who wants to learn the German language and culture. We offer courses for students with a basic to intermediate knowledge of German (A2 to C1) .

General information on the KU Summer School

Course dates

Arrival and program start: Sunday, July 21, 2024

Class  start: Monday, July 22, 2024

Class end: Friday, August 09, 2024 (noon)

Departure: Saturday, August 10, 2024

Classroom hours

  • 81 hrs intensive German language course and cultural studies or literature class
  • 16 hrs workshops, excursions and project activities

ECTS Credits

up to 5 ECTS credits/ 6 US credits

Successful and regular participation is confirmed at the end of the course by a certificate and an official Transcript of Records. Please arrange academic recognition with your home university BEFORE starting the course.

Language requirements

You must fulfill the following (minimum) language requirements in order to be able to participate in the programs listed below:

  • Course 1: German A2 (to be officially confirmed upon application) 

  • Course 2: German B2-C1

Course fees/ scholarships

€ 599.00 including € 150.00 registration fee

€ 559.00 in the case of Early Bird registration till 29th of February 2024

Group prices for students from partner universities on request

Additional cost (not included in the course fees):
- Travel cost
- Accommodation (organized by the International Office, see below)
-  Meals (depending on your preferences, lunch in the students cafeteria costs between 6 and 10 EUR)
- Health and accident insurances
- Books/ materials (25.00 EUR per participant)

Scholarship opportunities

BAYHOST summer school grants - Students and young academics from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia and Ukraine with intermediate German knowledge (at least B1-level) are eligible to apply for the summer school grants for German language in Bavaria.

After registration, you will receive an email with an access link to your data. As soon as you have completed this, you can download the Welcome Package with practical information about the KU Summer School. The following documents are required for the application:

  • Transcript of records from your home university
  • CV
  • Short letter of motivation
  • Photo

Accommodation facilities

The International Office will arrange accommodation for all participants for the period from Sunday, July 21, 2024 (check-in) to Saturday, August 10, 2024 (check-out). Students can ask for housing within their online application. 

The International Office has a limited contingent of overnight accommodations at the Gasthof Trompete as well as the Episcopal Seminary. 

Catering: on weekdays possible in the KU canteen or cafeteria. For the weekends the Eichstätt bars and restaurants offer a variety of possibilities.
