Art. 88 (5) and (6) of the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Law (Bayerisches Hochschulinnovationsgesetz) in conjunction with Sections 29 et seqq. of the qualification regulation in the respectively current version paves the way for

An absolute prerequisite for any university admission for professionally qualified individuals or qualified professionals is the successful completion of an advisory interview for professionally qualified individuals before enrollment can take place. This applies in all cases.

General university entrance for professionally qualified individuals

The prerequisite for general university admission for professionally qualified individuals is proof of

  • a master craftsman's examination (Meisterprüfung),
  • a professional advanced training examination equivalent to the master craftsman's examination, or
  • a public or state-recognized technical college or technical academy.

Checklist of required documents for professionally qualified individuals

  • Certificate of passing the master craftsman's examination in accordance with the provisions of the Vocational Training Act or the Crafts and Trades Regulation Code, with a proven average grade, or
  • Certificate of passing a professional advanced training examination equivalent to the master craftsman's examination, taken in accordance with the provisions of the Vocational Training Act or the Crafts and Trades Regulation Code, whose preparatory courses comprise a total of at least 400 hours (proof of this number of hours must be enclosed) with a proven average grade, or
  • Certificate of passing the final examination at a public or state-recognized technical college or technical academy with a proven average grade and the certificate or separate confirmation of passing the professional internship, or
  • Proof of a qualification equivalent to a master craftsman's examination taken in accordance with the provisions of the Vocational Training Act or the Crafts and Trades Regulation Code, in accordance with a state-law continuing education regulation for professions in the health care sector and in the field of social care and social education professions, with a proven average grade.

Subject-specific university admission for qualified professionals

The statutes of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt regarding subject-specific university admission for qualified professionals without a high school diploma serving as university entrance qualification stipulate that academic aptitude must also be demonstrated through a probational study period. For full-time studies, the probational study period is considered passed after one year (two semesters) if at least 40 ECTS credits have been earned.

The prerequisites for subject-specific university admission for qualified professionals are proof of

  1. at least two years of completed vocational training in accordance with the provisions of the Vocational Training Act and
  2. at least three years of full-time professional experience in a field related to the intended degree program. Vocational training and professional experience must be closely related to the degree program applied for.

Checklist of required documents for qualified professionals

  • Certificate of successful completion of at least two years of vocational training regulated by federal or state law in accordance with the provisions of the Vocational Training Act in a field related to the intended degree program, and
  • if applicable, separate proof of the duration of the vocational training (at least two years) in the event that this is not indicated on the certificate.
  • Proof of professional activity: e.g., employment reference, employer’s confirmation, etc. (but not an employment contract) demonstrating at least three years of subsequent full-time professional experience in a field related to the intended degree program, or two years of corresponding professional experience for individuals receiving a federal advancement scholarship. The proof must include the activities performed and demonstrate working hours corresponding to at least half of the average regular working hours of a full-time employee.

Please send us your registration for an advisory interview and all required documents by mail. Please proceed as follows:

  1. Complete and sign the registration form for the advisory interview,
  2. attach a complete résumé,
  3. and include the required certified documents, depending on whether you are applying for general university admission for professionally qualified applicants or subject-specific university admission for qualified professionals.

In order to schedule an appointment for the advisory interview, the KU academic advisory service responsible for the degree program you have applied for will contact you after the Student Office has reviewed the formal requirements.

After completing the advisory interview, you will receive a certificate confirming your eligibility for general or subject-specific university admission. This certificate includes the date on which university admission was granted (the date of the advisory interview) and your average grade.

This certificate serves as proof of university admission for enrollment as a professionally qualified applicant and must always be submitted along with proof of professional qualifications when applying for degree programs with admission restrictions or enrolling in degree programs without admission restrictions.

Enrollment for professionally qualified individuals

For professionally qualified applicants, the general rules for applying to degree programs with limited admission or degree programs requiring an aptitude test, or for enrollment in degree programs without admission restrictions, apply following the successful completion of the advisory interview. The vocational qualification certificate generally serves as evidence of eligibility for university admission (see required documents, depending on whether general university admission or subject-specific university admission applies), together with the certificate confirming completion of the advisory interview.

 

Deadline for registration for an advisory interview for professionally qualified individuals

Registration deadline for an advisory interview for professionally qualified applicants: July 15 of each year for degree programs with limited admission, and September 1 of each year for degree programs without admission restrictions (final deadlines).
