Allocation to a higher semester

General information on allocation to higher semesters

Depending on the number of ECTS credits of the respective target module, each successful recognition of study or examination achievements or recognition of non-university achievements results in the student being placed in a higher semester (Höherstufung). Usually, a higher grade is also awarded if study or examination achievements or skills were completed or acquired during a leave of absence at another university.

The total amount of recognized ECTS credits will always be taken into account within your course of study, regardless of when the credit transfer request was submitted.

Allocation to a higher semester may affect compliance with the standard period of study and the receipt of federal student grants (BAföG).

Students will be notified of their allocation to a new semester by e-mail.
