Frequently asked questions
Paradigmatic examples of subject-specific questions on credit transfer and recognition are:
- What exactly is the skill or competence to be recognized/credited?
- To which module in my degree program can it be credited or for which target module would a corresponding request be likely to be successful?
- Does a request for recognition or credit transfer make sense for my course of study? Or could the recognition of credits even jeopardize my academic success, for example because the resulting allocation to a higher semester directly leads to me exceeding my maximum duration of study?
- Or, in the case of a planned change of university to the KU: Can I have parts of my previous studies recognized for the desired degree program? If yes, which study achievements are likely to be eligible for recognition? Please also refer to the information provided in the section Application/Admission for higher semesters.
Advice as recommendation
The degree program’s board of examiners decides whether to accept the credit transfer request. Statements made by the Student Advisory Service and subject advisors or other bodies have no legal effect; they are merely individual assessments and recommendations. The board of examiners is not bound by statements or assurances made by the advisory services.
