Quality Management in Studies and Teaching

[Translate to English:] Siegel Akkreditierung

The KU is committed to offering degree programs that consistently meet the highest academic, pedagogical, and societal standards, and that are widely recognized across national borders and highly valued in the job market. The goal of quality management is to ensure compliance with this standard through regular reviews of academic programs and the development of the necessary quality assurance processes and tools. In doing so, the autonomy of lecturers and students is to be respected and integrated into the self-governance of the faculties.

The fundamental basis for quality management at the KU is the Mission Statement for Studies and Teaching and the legal requirements of the Bavarian Study Program Accreditation Ordinance (Bayerische Studienakkreditierungsverordnung, BayStudAkkV).

The processes and tools for quality assurance are legally enshrined in the General Evaluation Regulations of the KU (AllEvaKU).

Generally, quality assurance in studies and teaching is the responsibility of the individual faculties, just as the development of degree programs and modules. They are supported centrally by Department IV/I.

Further development of quality management at the KU is effected in different committees and bodies.

Degree programs are being evaluated and accreddited on a regular basis. All processes related to academic studies and teaching practice follow established procedures, which are documented in the process management system. An overview of all accredited degree programs at KU can be found on this website.

University-wide surveys support these processes.

Department IV/1 is the first contact for all questions relating to quality management.

If you have any questions about the pedagogical design of academic programs or funding opportunities, please feel free to contact our educational and academic staff development colleagues.

System accreditation at the KU

At its meeting on June 9/10, 2022, the Accreditation Council granted institutional accreditation to the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. The institutional accreditation was granted in accordance with the recommendation of the accreditation agency AQAS without any conditions and is valid until March 31, 2030.

The subject of system accreditation is a university’s internal quality assurance system. With system accreditation, a university is granted the right to award the Accreditation Council’s seal to the degree programs it has reviewed.

As part of the system accreditation process, a university must demonstrate that it systematically implements the formal and academic criteria set forth in the Model Statutes. To this end, the quality management system must provide for regular evaluations of the degree programs and the performance areas relevant to teaching practice and studies, involving internal and external students, academic experts from outside the institution, representatives from the professional field, and graduates.
