German Translation of the Syriac Version of the Book of Micha

Project by Prof. Dr. Burkard M. Zapff, Chair for Exegesis of the Old Testament

The project contains a translation of the Syriac version of the book of Micha into German, based on the critical edition of Peshitta/Leiden, which in turn has the non-vocalised Codex Ambrosianus (Milan) as its source.

In addition to a general introduction on the Peshitta, the study will contain fundamental insights into translation techniques of the Syriac translation of the book of Micha, as well as particular explanations for specific differences between the Peshitta-text and our contemporary Masoretic text, paying special attention to the presumed influence by the LXX and the Targum.
