Using reading rooms, desks and carrels

  • Our reading rooms are open again and also the carrels can be used again.
  • Due to minimum distancing rules, only a limited number of uses can be in the reading rooms at the same time: Main Library: 40 | Ulmer Hof: 17 | Aula: 25 | Ingolstadt Branch Library: 28 | Hofgarten: 8, access granted by prior appointment
  • In order to be able to control access, we issue admission cards that you will receive upon presentation of your KU.Card or library card (in the original!) and that must be returned when leaving the Library. These admission cards also assign you to one of the numbered workstations. Please use only this space so that any at-risk contacts can be safely tracked. The date and time of entering and leaving the reading room will be stored together with contact details for a period of four weeks in case contact tracing should become necessary (data protection notice).
Please note: Admission cards will be booked to your library account with a one-day loan period. If you do not return the admission card when leaving the library, you will be reminded to return it. In case of open reminder fees, you will unfortunately not be able to borrow another admission card and thus be unable to access the reading rooms.

Please make sure that you follow our general hygiene rules:

  • Wear an FFP2 mask at all times on all University Library premises.
  • Keep to the marked walkways and follow staff instructions.
  • Make sure to maintain safe distances from other users and library staff.
  • Clean your hands when entering the Library and before using equipment such as copiers, scanners, or keyboards. Disinfectant dispensers and hand wipes are available.
  • Please leave the reading room during the cleaning break (currently only valid for the Main Library between 2 and 3 p.m.) and take all personal belongings with you.
  • Please observe the KU hygiene provisions and in particular the “general measures for infection prevention” (minimum distance, hand hygiene, sneezing and coughing etiquette, entry ban for infected individuals).

Loan periods, reminders and reservation

The authentication options for accessing licensed electronic media of the University Library Eichstätt-Ingolstadt can be found under "Online access to e-media".

Scanning service

The university library supports students who cannot be on site due to the Corona pandemic on their own scientific research in order to write their final thesis (BA, MA, state examination, dissertation). Up to a maximum of 75% of a printed book can be made available as digital copie.

This is how it works:

  • You can choose up to 9 titles from the University Library stocks (no interlibrary loans, only titles that are not on loan)
  • Write an email to bibliothek(at)ku.de or ub-wfi(at)ku.de and state the titles and the page numbers or chapters that you need.
  • The order will only be accepted if it includes the following passage: "I hereby certify that I need the scans for my own scientific research in context with my final thesis [e. g. master's thesis]. I will delete the scans after use; I will not distribute them further, neither technically nor personally. I have checked that my order does not exceed 75% per title."
  • We will send you a notification and provide you with a file.

If you have any questions, please contact the staff of the University Library at: bibliothek(at)ku.de or ub-wfi(at)ku.de.
