Social commitment at the KU

Many members of the Catholic University are committed to promoting the exchange of knowledge between science, politics, business, and the civil society, and are actively involved in many voluntary areas. They are supported in their social commitment by various departments at the KU. Students can get involved in university politics, working groups, specialist groups, student councils, or departments, for example. Employees can participate in various committees or as representatives, in employee representation or in university groups such as the choir or the sustainability group.

Events organized by voluntary commitment groups at the KU

Nachhaltigkeitswoche

Many events related to sustainability take place on the KU campus throughout the academic year. Regular events include, for example, the Restart festival in Eichstätt and the Obstgartenfest (Orchard Festival) in Ingolstadt at the start of the winter semester. Every semester, the Green Office holds a sustainability week. The Consulting Cup takes place every year in November in Ingolstadt. Students also participate in the Open Air am Berg festival as an “awareness team.” The student council and many working groups and university groups organize these diverse events. However, there are also a number of regular events organized by the degree programs, such as the internship exchange (Praxisbörse) organized by the Social Work program.

Current information about the events is published on the Student Representative Council's website, on the notice boards in the cafeteria, on the displays in the Main Library, on the Instagram pages of the working groups and on the pinboards in the foyer of the Ingolstadt School of Management. It's worth keeping your eyes open as you walk around campus.

We actively promote student commitment

We actively support our students' ideas and projects!

Whether in the environment or society, on campus or in the city — we support students who have an idea or project, who volunteer, or who are active in an initiative or student council. For example, with workshops and advice on financing, recognition of commitment during studies, and many other offers. We help you to develop ideas and tackle projects! We are available to answer any questions by e-mail or phone and have open office hours every Tuesday (see below).
