The KU has been publishing an annual sustainability report since 2012. Since 2022, it has also been publishing an environmental statement as part of the EMASPlus environmental management system, as well as annual sustainability programs as a continuation of its Overall Sustainability Concept.
The sustainability report is compiled by the Sustainable KU steering committee, student co-authors, our graphic designer Claudia Pietsch, and with the broad participation of many KU members.
Our reporting is based on the six action areas of our Overall Sustainability Concept, the guidelines of the Higher Education DNK, and the criteria for inventory in accordance with the KriNaHo project.
The sustainability report is printed in a small edition using organic inks, green electricity, and reduced chemicals on 100% recycled paper (Blue Angel). Unavoidable climate-impacting emissions are offset.
The sustainability report—especially Chapter 4—is subsequently reviewed by an external EMAS auditor, which is why, since 2017, you will also find a report “with integrated environmental statement according to EMAS/EMASplus.”
