Intensive German Language Course (Preparation for language exam DSH)

The Intensive German Language Course, which prepares students for the language exam DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) exam, is an eight-month intensive German course only for international students admitted to Katholische Universität (KU) Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.

Admission Test: Tuesday, 8th October 2024, at 10:00 -11:30 am,  rtba

Group assignment, information and course start: Monday, 14th October 2024, at 9:00 am, in room O17-011 (Ostenstraße 17)



Final exam: Monday, 07th July 2025, rtba

 

2. Eligibility:
This course is for international students who

  1. have a minimum level of A1 (according to the CEFR) = group A
    have a minimum level of A2 (according to the CEFR) = group B.
    The course starts with Level B1, if there are enough participants with the corresponding level.

  2. have an admission to the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt with the condition „Bestehen der Sprachprüfung DSH oder
     TestDaF“.

The intensive course is also open for lateral entrants  (see “"Late Entrance"” below).


3. Course Description:
- 8-month program (mid-October to early July), ends with the DSH language exam
- 3 contact hours, 5 mornings a week during the semester; and 4 contact hours, 5 mornings a week during winter break (middle of
   February until end of March) and 2x2 contact hours per week in the afternoon
- total contact hours (h): 620 (1 contact hour = 45 minutes)


4. Course Goal:
The Intensive German Language Course prepares international students to take the DSH ("Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber").


5. Requirements for Admission:
1. Proof of admission to study at KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (with the exception of a few master'’s programs)
2. Language requirements: a completed level of A1 (according to the CEFR)
3. Enrollment to KU


6. Course Size: 25 students maximum


7. Conditions of Participation:
Regular attendance and active participation in class and in the preparation and follow-up work at home are expected. Exclusion from the course based on the test results after the end of the lecture period of the winter semester (February) is possible.


8. Costs: 
Course costs: 500,00 € per semester - Cost Regulation
Course books and copies: approx. 50,00 € per semester
Semesterbeitrag KU: 56,00 € per semester

9. Late Entrance:
For students who have already enrolled to study at the KU (and got a „Zulassung“) by the deadline for the winter semester it is possible - with instructor approval - to join the intensive course at a later stage in the semester.
In principle, admission to the course in the summer semester (April 1st) is also possible.
