Overview

The Master’s degree program in Business Administration specializing in Digital Customer Experience & Service Design (DICE) is offered in cooperation with the Université Toulouse 1 Capitole / Toulouse School of Management. This program is a double degree Master’s program in which students acquire both a German and a French Master’s degree. Major study contents are marketing, service and innovation management, especially with regard to technological innovations.

Thus, the degree program also takes up the digital transformation that is going on in the business world: Companies are increasingly establishing digital strategies in customer management and communication. Digitalization releases innovation potential for product and service offerings, which in turn make new business models possible and fundamentally transform companies’ existing business models. We will in particular be able to observe corresponding innovations in the service sector in the future. The development of special customer experiences that contribute to the individualization of services will be decisive for their success. This is why the study program specifically combines the topics of digital customer experience and service design.

Students of the program acquire in-depth knowledge of marketing and service management over the course of four semesters. They will work with methods and concepts from the field of innovation, such as ‘design thinking’. By learning together in a mixed group of German and French students, they will develop extraordinary intercultural skills and train their language proficiency as well as their soft skills.

In the double Master’s degree program in Business Administration specializing in Digital Customer Experience & Service Design, you will further benefit from excellent teaching and support by the lecturers at two recognized universities in Germany and France. In 2021, the KU was awarded the title of Germany’s most popular university by Studycheck.de, the online portal in the field of studies with the biggest reach.

The program in detail

Aim

In this Master’s degree program, you will acquire comprehensive basic knowledge on digital marketing, customer experience and service management. Seminars in collaboration with business partners complement the scientific orientation of this course. The in-depth knowledge of theory and current research that you have acquired during your studies you can thus put into practice in cooperation with national and international businesses. This will give you the opportunity to see things from a company perspective and to continue to sharpen your skills profile. In addition, a one-semester internship embedded into the study program enables you to further deepen your practical experience and thus boost your competencies and bring them in line with the needs of the labor market.

In obtaining 120 ECTS credits, you will have gained as many credits as students in other specializations. However, you will receive both the German Master’s degree “Business Administration - Specialization Digital Customer Experience & Service Design”, as well as the French Master’s degree “Master International Marketing of Innovation” of the University Toulouse (Toulouse School of Management).

Program structure

You will start your studies off with a semester at the University in Toulouse and then transfer to the Ingolstadt School of Management on the Ingolstadt campus of the KU Eichstätt for your second and third semesters. During the fourth semester, you will be working on your Master’s thesis - if you wish to do so, in cooperation with a business. Additionally, you will deepen your experience of the business world in an internship in France or another French-speaking region. This offers you the flexibility to intern in a company in regions such as Romandy, Canada or Africa and thereby broaden your mind.

All your classes - at the KU as well as at the University of Toulouse - will be in English.

Contents

The degree program “Business Administration - Digital Customer Experience & Service Design” differs strongly from the program “Business Administration - International Business Administration (in cooperation with TBS). Since the Master “Digital Customer Experience & Service Design” is a fully integrated study program, you will not only experience immersion into the French culture as part of your studies at the Toulouse School of Management, but you will study alongside French students throughout your entire course of studies, at the Ingolstadt campus as well as in Toulouse. The two institutes are in close cultural exchange and develop profound language proficiency in German, French and English, which will go far beyond the level acquired during a usual semester abroad. The Franco-German focus of the program is reinforced by the fact that students live both in France and Germany and take comprehensive language courses during their studies as well as by the offers of the Franco-German University.

Conceptual design

In total, students complete modules worth 120 ECTS credits. Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded both the university degree Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Business Administration from the KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and the Master’s degree in International Marketing of Innovations from Université Toulouse 1.

Required modules

Students learn the basics of digital marketing and service management in required modules during the first, second and third semesters in Toulouse and Ingolstadt. Digital transformation is a central topic involved in all these modules. Their focus areas are on digital consumer behavior, CRM, customer experience, innovation and business ethics. This allows students to acquire a broad range of skills that are relevant for their later careers. In addition, they refine their intercultural profile and language proficiency in the courses "Comparison Asian/European Culture" and "Business Language".

Required elective modules

In the second and third semesters at WFI, students also choose required elective modules worth 30 ECTS credits. They can choose from a diverse pool of modules from the Faculty’s other specializations in Entrepreneurship, Business Analytics and Operations, Finance or Corporate Management. Students can thus flexibly supplement their studies according to their interests and needs.

Information on modules

  • International Strategic Marketing, Market Analysis and Planning
  • Digital Marketing & Consumer Behavior in the Digital World
  • Innovation Management
  • CRM & Sustainable Marketing
  • Business Research Methodology
  • Comparison Asian/European Culture

Further information on the modules offered by TSM is provided on the TSM website.

Internship

In order to facilitate career entry, a six-month internship is an integral part of the double-degree Master’s program. Students are encouraged to complete their internship in an international environment.

For their internship abroad, but also for their stay in Toulouse, students can apply for Erasmus funding. Furthermore, they can also apply for a one-off mobility aid provided by the Bavarian-French University Center (BayFrance) that supports the study stay in France financially.

Benefit from academic excellence and a practical orientation

Students and alumni voted the KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt to be Germany’s most popular university on the online portal Studycheck.de in 2021. According to the survey, studying at the KU is in particular characterized by personal support, academic excellence and a strong commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. The Toulouse School of Management, in turn, is particularly known for its cooperation with international companies such as Airbus, Bloomberg, Decathlon and Pierre Fabre and its close exchange with professional practice. Our Franco-German double-degree Master’s program combines the advantages of both locations: Scientific expertise and a practical orientation, personal supervision and international collaboration, a business perspective and a high sense of responsibility. Our students are thus trained both in Germany and France in a targeted and comprehensive manner for taking over future management tasks.

The BNP-Paribas-DFH scholarship: Award for excellent study achievements

Sarah_Thiele

In the past two years, two students of the double-degree Master’s program have already been awarded the BNP Paribas corporate scholarship for their excellent academic achievements. The scholarship is endowed with 3,000 euros and is awarded by the Franco-German University and BNP in France and Germany at the respective embassy in turns.

In 2021, Sarah Thiele was awarded the coveted scholarship. The double success shows that the double-degree Master’s program is not only competitive internationally, but even considered a leading international program.

Rankings and assessments

The KU is the most popular university in 2022

KU students and alumni have voted for their University to be Germany's most popular university in the 2022 ranking of the online portal StudyCheck. This is the second time in a row, as KU was also voted the most popular university in 2021. The ranking was based on over 70,000 evaluations for more than 500 higher education institutions and universities. 97 percent of students questioned for the ranking would recommend studying at the KU to others.

"There is no better praise for a university than almost 100 percent of students and alumni agreeing: I can only recommend studying at the KU! That is why we are very pleased with the ranking’s outcome, because it expresses the high level of satisfaction of our students," says KU President Prof. Dr. Gabriele Gien.

Toulouse – „La Ville Rose“

With just over 1.3 million inhabitants in its metropolitan region, Toulouse is the fourth largest city in France. Airbus and its numerous suppliers are based here, making the city an international hub for the aviation industry. The headquarters of the multinational pharmaceutical and cosmetics company Pierre Fabre is also located nearby.

Toulouse is characterized by a historic city architecture with its typical red brick buildings. Imposing buildings stretch along the Garonne River, and the Capitol is a reminder of the glorious times of the 16th century. At the same time, the city’s almost 100,000 students create a lively bustle in the small alleys, bars and restaurants of the city center today. Those who want to recharge their batteries in nature can reach the sea or the Pyrenees in a short time.

Practical connection

An internship with Airbus in Toulouse? Or in another country, on another continent? The six-month internship is an integral part of the double-degree Master’s program and ideally prepares students for an international career in economics or research.

In addition, the individual modules of the program integrate different practical projects. Here, students benefit from the program’s excellent network with companies in the industry, both at the Toulouse School of Management and the WFI. Partner companies of the program include Airbus, Bloomberg, Decathlon and Pierre Fabre in France and Commerzbank, MediaMarktSaturn and pwc in Germany.

In the context of practical projects, students gain exclusive insights into companies, deal with their specific challenges and finally present their solution approaches and ideas to company representatives. This gives students the chance to apply their knowledge directly to relevant issues and engage in close exchange with professional practice.

Last but not least, the KU’s own career fair “Company Day“ and many other recruiting events as well as company presentations and workshops provide further excellent networking opportunities.

The KU

Campus

Short distances on campus at the KU save time and avoid stress. The campus in Ingolstadt, home to the Ingolstadt School of Management (WFI), consists of the Main Building and the New Building, separated by a peaceful courtyard. The ample green spaces on the Ingolstadt campus invite students to enjoy their surroundings outside during lecture breaks and meet fellow students. If you prefer to spend your breaks in town running errands, Ingolstadt’s city center is just a few minutes’ walk away. Other faculty buildings are the Studierendenhaus and the Hohe Schule that was home to the first Bavarian state university in the 15th century.

What sets the KU apart

Studying at the KU is more than just acquiring specialist knowledge. We broaden our horizons together and take on responsibility in and beyond the individual degree programs. The KU has a particular focus on topics such as personal development, sustainability, social skills and social commitment.

It offers its students the possibility to study and work in a welcoming atmosphere and benefit from outstanding support and comprehensive service offers, a well-stocked library, a broad range of sports and leisure activities and a large global network with over 260 partner universities.

Do I have to be Catholic in order to study at the KU? Do I have to deal with Catholic contents during my studies?

No, the KU is open to students of all faiths and beliefs.

At the KU, just as at all state universities, there is freedom of research and teaching. This means that our degree programs focus on the subjects for which you have enrolled – free from external influences.

As a student at our University, you will notice what our understanding of being a Catholic University means for us in one thing in particular: The University’s focus is on the individual person. The talents and potential of all those who teach, study, work and carry out research at the KU form our most important foundation – regardless of their religion or beliefs, nationality, ethical, cultural or social background, disabilities, gender, sexual orientation or age.

This is why we promote your best possible academic education through personal support and an ideal staff-to-student ratio. At the same time, the KU is more than just a place for earning your degree: We attach particular importance to imparting social skills and advancing our students’ sense and value orientation in addition to providing them with a high level of academic and methodical qualification.

Our aspiration for our University is to build bridges between science and society and to make knowledge available for society as well as to integrate impulses from outside the University into our research and teaching practice. We aim to make a valuable contribution to social coexistence, to the free democratic basic order and to preserving creation.

Is Ingolstadt a real university town?

Strictly speaking, Ingolstadt is even THE university town in Bavaria - because the first Bavarian university was located here! However, the Bavarian State University, founded in 1472, moved to Landshut in 1802 and has been located in Munich since 1810 as Ludwig Maximilian University. The history as a university town continued 188 years later: In 1989/90, the Faculty of Economics of the Catholic University opened in Ingolstadt.

With about 135,000 inhabitants, Ingolstadt is a lively and dynamic large city. The theater, the AUDI summer concerts, the jazz days and the Museum of Concrete Art are just a few of the cultural highlights. In a historical setting, a large number of restaurants, clubs and pubs invite you to unwind after lectures and seminars - often just a few steps away from the campus. The day can also be spent relaxing on the Danube beach or at the lake - with a cocktail in hand and your feet in the sand. And of course there's something else that's not missing in an Upper Bavarian city: beer gardens for a "Brezel" and a beer or two.

The location

Ingolstadt is the second largest city in Upper Bavaria after Munich and is only a 30-minute drive away from the state capital. Located in the heart of the Altmühl valley and the largest hop-growing area in the world - the Hallertau - Ingolstadt has a broad cultural offer.

There are regular classical concerts in the AUDI forum, many different student events, and the Volksfeste, beer festivals that are typical for Bavaria (small Oktoberfest Wiesn festivals). Ingolstadt has many restaurants, bars, beer gardens and clubs that are all located in the historical, picturesque old town and are perfect for enjoying a beer or two with friends after the lectures. Last but not least, Munich with its vast cultural offer is just around the corner.

Together with the district of Eichstätt, the Ingolstadt region has the lowest unemployment rate in Germany. This is partly owing to the fact that many well-known large companies such as EADS, AUDI, EDEKA, Media-Markt Saturn or Hipp have their headquarters in the Ingolstadt region.
