Spanish at the KU

At the heart of the Spanish Degree Programmes is the academic study of the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking literature and cultures, both in Spain and in Latin America. You will acquire methodical and analytical skills to be able to speak and write about language, texts and media in a reflective manner. Historical, political and social contexts are always taken into account, so that you become an expert on the Spanish-speaking world.

In the literary and cultural studies part of the course you will acquaint yourself with the literatures and cultures of Spain and Ibero-America from the 16th century to the present. In the linguistic part of the course you will systematically deal with the structure and history of the Spanish language. You will have the opportunity to choose between different topics and set your own priorities.

In the practical language courses you will improve your own language skills in Spanish. In the Teaching Degree Programmes you will also deal with aspects of didactics, i.e. issues of language teaching and language acquisition.
