Required modules in the didactics subject Biology

Students of the teacher training program for elementary school take two modules, students of the teacher training program for secondary school take four modules. The seminar for the internship accompanying the studies or the teaching degree “LehramtPro module” is taken both by elementary and secondary school teaching students. The first state examination for the teaching profession for secondary school also includes an examination in didactics.

Elective modules in the Didactics of Biology department

The elective modules include courses held in the community garden ‘Kapuzinergarten’:

• You can choose the module “Transfer between Theory and Practice in the field of ‘Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)’" using the example of the school garden in the summer semester as an elective subject or as LehramtPro module  of Didactics of Biology. In addition, it can be credited towards the supplementary study program in sustainable development.
• The modules “Fundamentals and Practical Implementation Examples for Sustainable Development” in the form of beekeeping or community gardening can be credited as elective modules in the free area, in the Master's ESD as required elective module or also for the supplementary degree course in sustainable development . The module runs for a whole year. 

In addition:

• The module “Theoretical Foundation, Practical Testing and Reflection of Didactic Concepts for Education for Sustainable Development in Science Lessons” can be chosen as a LehramtPro module for teacher trianing or as an elective module. 

Currently supervised by the Didactics of Biology department:

The self-study module ”Sustainable Nutrition with Synrchonous Components”, which is required for the supplementary degree course in sustainable development, StudiumPro, for the Master’s in Geography: Education for Sustainable Development and Master’s in Integrated German and French Political Science

Supervision of final theses: 

Students of elementary and secondary school teaching with biology as a didactics subject can write their qualifying papers or Bachelor's theses in the field of didactics of biology. Since 2019, the Didactics of Biology department has also supervised Master's theses for the Master’s program in Geography: Education for Sustainable Development regularly.
